How do I make a booking?

You can send us an enquiry through our Contact Us page and we will confirm availability and arrange your booking by email. We recommend booking well in advance, especially during peak gorilla trekking seasons (June–September and December–February).

What is your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

We ask for at least 14 days' notice for cancellations. Cancellations made within 14 days of arrival may be subject to a partial charge. Please contact us directly to discuss your circumstances — we are always happy to help where we can.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Accepted Answer

Check-in is from 2:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM. If you need an early check-in or late check-out, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Question 4

How do I get to Ntebeko Homestay?

Accepted Answer

We are located in Kisoro District, South-Western Uganda, close to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The nearest town is Kisoro, approximately 14 km away. We can arrange airport transfers from Kisoro Airport at an extra fee.

Question 5

Can you help arrange gorilla trekking permits?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We can advise on obtaining gorilla trekking permits for Mgahinga Gorilla National Park through the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). Permits must be booked in advance and are limited in number each day. We recommend securing your permit before finalising your travel dates.

How far is the homestay from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park?

We are situated very close to the park entrance, making us an ideal base for early morning treks. The drive to the Ntebeko park gate takes approximately 5–10 minutes.

What is the best time of year for gorilla trekking?

Accepted Answer

Gorilla trekking is possible year-round in Mgahinga. The dry seasons — June to September and December to February — generally offer easier trekking conditions with less mud on the trails. The wet seasons can be lush and beautiful, and permits may be easier to obtain.

Are golden monkey treks also available?

Yes. Mgahinga is one of the few places in the world where you can track habituated golden monkeys. Unlike gorilla trekking, no advance booking is required for golden monkey permits — you can arrange them on the day of your trek at the park gate. We are happy to help you plan this into your stay.

Are Mount Sabyinyo treks also possible?

Yes, hiking Sabyinyo is a popular activity in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Currently, the hiking permit is USD 100, and no prior booking is required. You can obtain the hiking permit on the day of the activity. Please note that permits are paid for by credit card (no cash accepted).

What meals are included in the stay?

We serve a home-cooked breakfast prepared with fresh local ingredients, included in all room rates. For lunch and dinner, guests can visit the nearby Amajambere Community Camp. Please let us know your dietary requirements when booking.

Is there Wi-Fi at the homestay?

Accepted Answer

There is no Wi-Fi at the homestay. However, an internet connection via mobile phone hotspot is available on request.

Do you cater for dietary requirements?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We are happy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs. Please let us know your requirements when you make your booking so we can prepare accordingly.

Is the homestay suitable for children?

Accepted Answer

Yes, families with children are very welcome. Please note that gorilla trekking requires participants to be at least 15 years old, but there are plenty of other activities — including golden monkey trekking, nature walks, and cultural visits — that younger guests can enjoy.

What currency do you accept?

We accept Ugandan Shillings (UGX) and US Dollars (USD). Payment can be made by cash on arrival. Please contact us in advance if you have questions about payment arrangements.

Is it safe to travel to Kisoro?

Accepted Answer

Kisoro is a peaceful and welcoming district. We recommend checking current travel advisories from your government before travelling. We are always happy to share up-to-date local information to help you plan your trip with confidence.

Do I need a visa to visit Uganda?

Accepted Answer

Most nationalities require a visa to enter Uganda. You can apply for an East Africa Tourist Visa online before travel, which also covers Uganda and Rwanda. We recommend checking the Uganda Immigration Services website or your nearest Ugandan embassy for the latest requirements.
